Boeing's Starliner Launches to International Space Station

NASA Test Pilots Make Historic Flight

Mission Summary and Live Coverage

On Thursday, May 20th, 2023, at 10:52 AM ET (15:52 BST), a pair of NASA test pilots, Barry "Butch" Wilmore and Sunita Williams, embarked on a historic flight aboard Boeing's Starliner capsule. The spacecraft lifted off from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, and is expected to dock with the International Space Station (ISS) on Saturday, May 21st.

The Starliner mission is a significant milestone in American space exploration. It marks the first time a commercial spacecraft has carried astronauts to the ISS. If successful, the mission will pave the way for future private-sector partnerships in space exploration and provide NASA with alternative transportation options for its astronauts.

NASA's live coverage of the Starliner mission will resume on Thursday at 9:30 AM ET (14:30 BST). You can watch the launch replay and stay up-to-date on the mission's progress in the player provided above.
